Event Description:
Nominations are being accepted for the inaugural Washington Roots Award. The Washington Historical Society seeks to honor a person who spent at least part of their youth here in Washington, and as an adult has made significant contributions in either business, arts, science, government, sports or charitable work.

The society expects to award this honor annually, on Homecoming weekend. The 2013 award will be presented Sept. 28, during an open house at the Zinser House.

Nomination forms are available online at:  www.washington-historical-society.org or at the Zinser House, which is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The deadline for nominations is June 1.

Animal Rescue Giving Tree at Washington District Library – Sunnyland Branch

Help the Tazewell County Animal Shelter stock their shelves and provide newly adopted animals with the essentials they need. Beginning February 1, 2026, select ornaments with items to donate, purchase the items, and bring them back to the Sunnyland Branch by March 10th.
