Unveiling of the Lettes Mural and Program by Washington Historical Society The Washington Historical Society has commissioned another historically-themed mural for Washington. This mural honors the Lettes women's softball team that played at Oliver Thomas Park in Sunnyland from 1956 to 1958. The mural unveiling will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 1:30pm in the park. Several former players will be on hand to share their memories of this unique time in Washington's history. The public is invited to attend. During their tenure at Oliver Thomas Park, the Lettes drew large crowds to their games on summer evenings. Three notable players on those Sunnyland teams were famed ICC coach, Esther Torry, Lorene Ramsey, and Hall of Fame slugger Jim Thome's aunt, Carolyn Thome.
