The public is invited to attend an open house honoring former Washington Mayor Don Gronewold, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Dement-Ziner House, 105 Zinser Place. The Washington Historical Society is honoring Gronewold for his service to historical preservation, when as mayor he helped the society purchase the Dement-Zinser House.

Animal Rescue Giving Tree at Washington District Library – Sunnyland Branch

Help the Tazewell County Animal Shelter stock their shelves and provide newly adopted animals with the essentials they need. Beginning February 1, 2026, select ornaments with items to donate, purchase the items, and bring them back to the Sunnyland Branch by March 10th.
