Though the landscape of international trade is constantly changing, one change has been particularly impactful: companies increasingly have access to better and more current international trade data to make smarter decisions. This session will review those resources, nearly all of which are available at no cost. We will also highlight why you must understand the global Harmonized Code System used by countries to report their imports and exports. This session will be valuable to new and existing exporters that may not be aware of these recent available of great trade data. Speaker: Jim Foley is the director of the Turner Center for Entrepreneurship and the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at Bradley University. He manages a program of counseling and training in international business, marketing, logistics and finance. He is also Director of International Programs for the Foster College of Business and Director of Business and Nonprofit Partnerships for the university. Mr. Foley is the author of the book The Global Entrepreneur 4th Edition discussing techniques to expand exports. He is also the co-author of the eleventh edition of International Marketing by Vern Tersptra. Jim has received numerous recognitions including the ASBDC State Star, the NASBITE International Trade Educator of the Year Award, the Illinois Governor’s Export Award, and the IATTO Lifetime Achievement Award. He most recently received the John Otis Lifetime Achievement Award, Nasbite International’s highest recognition. Jim serves as national co-chair of the ASBDC International Interest Section and a member of the Illinois District Export Council. Prior to joining the trade center, Mr. Foley worked in the computer industry living in Los Angeles and London. He has an MBA from the London Business School at the University of London, and B.A. from Knox College. Bicentennial History Exhibit – On display July 13th – August 24th, 2025 at Five Points Washington
Bicentennial and historical images will be exhibited by the Washington Historical Society on the Community Gallery Wall at Five Points Washington. The carefully curated photographs selected for this exhibit give a unique insight into events, people, and places from Washington’s past. The selected photographs span the last 150 years of Washington’s history and feature community events and everyday life in Washington.

Take a walk through Washington Park and enjoy a story as you stroll! Beginning at the parking lot located on the Lincoln Grade School side of Washington Park, follow the sidewalk to read a story. This two-month session’s book is Señorita Mariposa By Ben Gundersheimer and will be displayed through Tuesday, September 30th.
