A welcoming, small group environment for anyone interested in giving yoga a try! This is a two-session series. Students are recommended to participate in both sessions. No reduced payments for partial attendance or refunds will be offered. This series will only be offered if at least three participants register (any currently registered participants will be notified and refunded if the minimum is not met). The maximum group size is six. In this series, you will be guided through foundational yoga poses and sequences to prepare you for studio classes or a home practice. You will: -learn to use yoga props to access the full benefits of postures -understand safe alignment in foundational poses -learn how to adapt postures to work for your specific body -practice breathing techniques that can help the body benefit from more oxygen -learn what to expect from various types of yoga classes All mobility and flexibility levels are welcome; yoga works for all body types when approached with curiosity and openness! There will be time for personal questions, attention, and modifications. The Beginners Series are led by different Soulside instructors on the first two Sundays of each month in the Washington studio. If you've taken a previous Beginners Series, but want more instruction before attending regular classes, you are welcome to take the series again and will experience yoga from a different instructor's perspective.
Take a walk through Washington Park and enjoy a story as you stroll! Beginning at the parking lot located on the Lincoln Grade School side of Washington Park, follow the sidewalk to read a story. This two-month session’s book is Love Monster by Rachel Bright.
