Event Description:
On Friday, September 11, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., a short walk will be held at the Washington Park starting by the tennis courts. The Washington Police Department, Washington and Northern Tazewell Fire Departments as well as other organizations and citizens will be participating to honor those lives that were lost on that sad day in history.

A short walk will be led by family members of the Central Illinois Gold Star Families to the Memorial Helicopter. A short ceremony will be led by Mayor Gary Manier, with guest speakers to include, St. Senator Darin LaHood, Patti Smith, founder of the Central Illinois Gold Star Families and Washington Police Officer and Reservist Jake Cemek.

The ceremony will close with Taps, in memory of those lives that were lost that day.

The Washington Citizens Police Academy Alumni would like to invite you to join us for this very special event. Let's all take the time to remember those lives that were lost and to honor our Police and Firemen and first responders as they go about their daily work of protecting us.
