To commemorate National Physical Therapy Month, Washington area therapy clinics would like to raise awareness and encourage the local community to make the commitment to be physically active. Proceeds will directly benefit the Washington Community by funding a reading initiative targeted at elementary students and their parents. There will be a 5k run and 1 mile walk offered. The walk will include 1/8 mile incriments for those who need a shorter distance. Chip timing, an official race tee and post race party will be included. Costumes are encouraged for both youth and adult. Awards will be given for best costume (youth and adult) along with best overall runners in several catagories.
Register by October 1st to guarantee shirt/size. All remaining shirts are a first come, first serve basis.

Take a walk through Washington Park and enjoy a story as you stroll! Beginning at the parking lot located on the Lincoln Grade School side of Washington Park, follow the sidewalk to read a story. This two-month session’s book is Love Monster by Rachel Bright.

Animal Rescue Giving Tree at Washington District Library – Sunnyland Branch
Help the Tazewell County Animal Shelter stock their shelves and provide newly adopted animals with the essentials they need. Beginning February 1, 2026, select ornaments with items to donate, purchase the items, and bring them back to the Sunnyland Branch by March 10th.
