In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) is hosting its 6th Annual I Run with Survivors 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, April 8th. All participants will receive a shirt and CFPA merchandise. CFPA wants all survivors – ones who have come forward to disclose and ones who keep their abuse private – to know that the community supports them, the Center for Prevention of Abuse supports them, and that they are believed. Post a photo in your race shirt, tag us, and use #iRunwithSurvivors to show how you support and believe survivors. Services for sexual assault survivors are free and confidential at CFPA and the crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-559-SAFE (7233).
Take a walk through Washington Park and enjoy a story as you stroll! Beginning at the parking lot located on the Lincoln Grade School side of Washington Park, follow the sidewalk to read a story. This two-month session’s book is There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Lucille Colandro.
